About us

            Malati Vasantdada Patil Kanya Mahavdyalaya, Islampur was established in 1989 byWalwa Taluka Education Society. Walwa Taluka Education Society has been doing educational work since 1945. Social reformers like Mahatma Phule, Shahu Maharaja of Kolhapur, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil worked hard for the spreading of
education in western Maharashtra. Late Mr. S. D. Patil, founder member of Walwa Taluka Education Society was influenced by philosophy and ideology of these social reformers. Mr. S.D. Patil was active in social and political activities in sangli district.  He was the president of Sangli zillha parishad. He was elected as M. L. A. & M. P. from sangli district. Mr. S. D. Patil and his co- workers founded Walwa Taluka Education Society on 18-05-1945. They founded this institution for the educational up-liftment of the masses. They wanted to develop a new generation of learners who would protect our independence.
      Motto of our institution is ‘Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay’. This means sanstha strives for the welfare and betterment of the majority rural people. In our culture, educational setup and system was in the hands of ‘Abhijan’- Abhijan means a minority class of high caste intellectuals who controlled education. But the fonder of
our institution changed the gears. They provided educational setup according to the
needs and requirements of people.
            This college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur and has been
recognized under section 2(F) 12 (B) as per UGC Act, 1956, on 31st March 2004.

Vision:
Malati Vasantdada Patil Kanya Mahavidyalya is committed to meet
the educational, social, cultural & economical needs of the region and the
nation to create a just and Human Society. We dedicate ourselves to women’s
empowerment.
Mission:
Mission Statement is ‘Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay’. The Mission of
the institution is to provide complete education to the women to prepare an
individual to absorb the complete socio-economic & cultural environment
and meet future challenges. The College imparts qualitative & Valuable
service in the field of women’s education.
Objectives:
1. To stand for facilitating qualitative and valuable service in the field
of women’s education.
2. To give Liberal and Efficient education to the girls in Walwa
Taluka.
3. To try to attain community and social development through infrastructural
facilities of the institution.
4. To aim at overall personality development of the students.
5. To promote literacy in the Society.
6. To remove evil defects which are responsible for the bad conditions
of the masses.
